Applesauce Cake
Ingredients:
1 Cup applesauce (no sugar added OR regular)
7/8 Cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 Cup melted butter
2 tablespoons honey
1-3/4 Cup flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon powdered cloves
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup nut meat, chopped (pecans, walnuts)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350º and butter/flour a 9" square pan.
- Mix together applesauce, brown sugar, melted butter and honey
- Into a large bowl sift the dry ingredients
- Add in the raisins and nuts
- Mix the applesauce mixture from Step 1 into the dry ingredients
- Blend well and pout into the buttered/floured pan
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. (Do not over bake)
Cake can be glazed if you like your cake a little sweeter.
