Sugar free desserts

Sugar Free Caramel-Apple Mini-Tart
Recipe makes 12 mini-tarts


Ingredients:

  • 2 recipes of pie dough room temperature (homemade or store bought)

  • 2 apples - peeled & chopped mini-bite size

  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup Splenda™

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Sugar Free Caramel Ice Cream Sauce


Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees

  1. In a medium size bowl mix the chopped apples, lemon juice, cinnamon and Splenda™ and set aside

  2. On a floured surface cut out approximately 5 inch circles of dough

  3. Place 2 tablespoons of the apple mixtue in the center of the circular dough **

  4. Fold the edges to the center and pleat

  5. Place finished mini-tart on greased baking sheet

  6. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes or until golden brown

    NOTE: About 1 minute before the mini-tarts are done, remove from oven and place 1 teaspoon of the sugar free caramel sauce in the center. Return to the over for the remaining 1 minute to allow the sauce to infuse with the apples

  7. Remove from the over and cool slightly to enjoyr - or cool completely and freeze.

** Add any leftover filling to the mini-tarts before cooking as the filling tends to cook down.

Serve these with whipped cream or a scoop of 'no sugar added' vanilla ice cream.
